That was Mark’s joke, and that he made it is one of the reasons I love him.
So, at the Gutter this month, I talked about Supermassive’s horror titles Until Dawn and a leeetle tiny bit about the follow-up, Man of Medan, as part of its planned Dark Pictures Anthology. I really loved both of these games, and I’m a little mad at myself I took so long getting to Until Dawn. It’s just fun, folks. I didn’t mention how Until Dawn also plays with audience perceptions with subgenre mixing — you know the 2000-era Scooby-Doo movies where they have a conventional creep in a mask, but also a real supernatural menace? It is not unlike that. Such a good time, and you can get it for, like, $15 these days. Man of Medan is a little overpriced at $30 at launch — it’s a much more compact game — but I got it for about half that in the Halloween sale. There will only be more sales in the 4th quarter of 2019. Go get one! I want them to have the money to make more!
